Meet Dr. Hawkins
Dr. Cassandra Mmabatho Hawkins is a retired educator and entrepreneur. A devoted teacher of twenty-nine years (29) in the field of Language Arts plus eleven years (11) of mission work. In addition, she holds the P.O.W.E.R. (Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognition) award in 2020 as a VIP member. With a degree in Speech, Theatre, and Communications, she is able to help kids develop their creative, theatrical, musical, and problem-solving abilities. Along with that she is also a Doctor of Divinity and displays it well in teaching bible stories, character, and spiritual growth.

Meet Ms Tulini: Teachers at Brainfood Academy
Mrs. Tulini specializes in Special Education and General Education. She teaches first and second grades, Middle School Grades four and five. She works as a ninth and tenth-grade Supplemental to help those in need of extra help. And was able to work online with Google Classroom breakout rooms, during the Pandemic. After working with low-income families, Mrs. Tulini joined the ranks of retirement in June 2022. At Brainfood Academy she plans on teaching 1-5 grades and HS Language Arts and Social Studies, and 3-4 grades Social Studies and Science, and if necessary will teach 1-4th grade Math.
Mr. Cantu Explores The Philosophy of Music
He introduces and explores the world of music and demonstrates how one can find Music in almost all unimaginable places. It is all around you if you can find and recognize it. Music theory is just the beginning of all that music is all about.
Mr. Cantu’s focus here at Brainfood Academy is to train students to create engaging lessons in music. He will endeavor to concentrate on teaching the art of reading and playing musical chords. And will also teach another class on playing the guitar. With his vast experience and knowledge in teaching music, the student will be able to grasp and develop adequate skills to perform proficiently in the art of music as well.
As the creator and founder of the Mariachi bands in the State of Texas, Mr. Cantu hopes all his students, regardless of age, will find true meaning and love in the art of music as he did.
Professor Jackson and Physics and Astronomy;
Francine introduces you to the world of Physics and Astronomy. As a professional Astronomy educator, she specializes in teaching all ages and also works in many different planetariums. Her main focus is to teach how Science is not just not an isolated subject, but to let her students understand that Science is actually a part of everything we do. It is an eye-opener when we can enjoy the world of Science.
As an educator and Astronomy curator at Brown University, I hope to challenge and enlighten you in the world of Physics and Astronomy. The world is built on numbers. Let me show you how our universe is made up.
Ms. Starling of Teachers at Brainfood Academy
She is a Graduate of the University of Florida, who holds a degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Science. She specializes in teaching Reading and Math at the elementary level. Her attention is on first-grade reading and math skills. Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Fluency, Handwriting, Grammar, and Punctuation, she plans to teach under the broad heading of Reading. Under Math, she will teach Counting and Cardinality, Operations, and Algebraic Thinking. Number and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data and Geometry. In addition, she plans on teaching Math in the Fourth Grade, which covers Numbers/Operations in Basse Ten, Operations and algebraic Thinking, Numbers/Operations – Fractions and Decimals, Measurement and Data, Geometry, and Mathematical Reasoning and Problem Solving.
History – Mr. Janecek Teaches that History
Teaches how important it is to know our past. Because we get to understand what is happening now. Which will help us to make preparations for the future. History is undebatable. No one can alter History. We can talk about it and learn from it, both the misfortunes and achievements as well.
History helps us to understand today’s events. Mr. Janecek supports open conversation on past and present History, covering from the Renaissance to present-day events. He teaches that a student can make better decisions when he can make the difference between fact and opinion. It makes a better student when he can learn and think and reason for himself from facts which is important in our progressive world of today.
Learn Sign Language and the Joy of Learning with Ms. Jay
What a gift!! In addition to talking with her hands, Mrs. Fish loves to teach and explore the world of learning. As much as she has a special need to help her with her breathing, she hopes to demonstrate to her students how special they are. Using sign language and interactive teaching, she can get students to understand that there is a way to learn all things. She teaches the joy and art of language and music also. Ms. Wendy Naruse and Felix – Learn and Grow with BrainFood Academy
Wendy Naruse is ready to take her students on an adventure in Learning at our Brainfood Academy. Wendy received training in Special Education from the University of Hawaii from 2018 -2020. Since 2017 she taught elementary-grade students. She has 3 years of Tutoring experience in Basic Math and Language Arts. And also taught elementary-grade children Conversational Cantonese for three years and 3 years of teaching using the Zoom platform Fun facts about me.
Ms. Naruse is married with 4 dogs and a cat. Her hobbies are cooking, karaoke singing, and playing with her dogs. Resides in Hawaii and uses fun time to motivate her students to learn. Sushi is her favorite food and green is her favorite color. She plans to teach Grade 1 Math with Felix ( stuffed animal) assisting her. Her focus will be on:
- Number sense and Operations (counting, adding, subtracting, etc)
- Measurement and data (compare and order objects, graphs, and charts)
- Geometry (2 and 3-dimensional shapes)
- Patterns and Relationships (regarding numbers, shapes, objects, etc)
Mr. Hamilton Will Show You How to not be a Victim of Math
Here, Corey has the key to eliminating that Math fear from students. He teaches “brain power” to overcome the mathphobia stigma. And uses the fundamentals of Math to show you the joy of numbers. In so doing, he gets his students to understand that Math is in everything we do, in all things. As in producing food for daily activities and is necessary in our daily lives. His focus is to get everyone to see the fun in numbers from Algebra to Trigonometry, and not let Math overpower you while he walks you through the conquering process.
